However, like buying any type of diamond, you must have it properly appraised before buying. You want to buy true (authentic) black diamonds, not one that was made in a factory in a foreign country.
Black diamonds get their color from a polycrystaline structure and with inclusions, and cracking that can be very extensive based on the diamond. All this information should be on the GIA certificate.
Is it worth the investment of purchasing loose black diamonds? Possibly, like any major purchase of anything with signification value, you must keep it in immaculate condition in order for it to be worth something later on.
